TWO BEAR FAMILY ALBUMS NOMINATED FOR GRAMMY AWARDS 2015
The annual Grammy Awards honor the best music releases of the year. The Grammies are the most important music awards. For the 2015 Grammies, the jury has nominated two releases on Bear Family:
"Black Europe" was nominated for a Grammy in the ‘Best Historical Album 2015′ category. Bear Family’s 48-CD boxed set, accompanied by two(!) hardbound books, covering the history of black music in Europe from the late 19th century until 1927. This monumental release was compiled and edited by Dr. Rainer Lotz, a German historian and music researcher. It was the work of a lifetime.
"The Other Side Of Bakersfield" is one of five projects Grammy-nominated in the ‘Best Album Notes 2015′ category. On two single CDs, each disc accompanied by a massive, beautifully illustrated booklet, music expert Scott B. Bomar presents the story on the Bakersfield artists and labels who embraced rock ‘n’ roll on their way to a new kind of country sound.
It is not the first time Bear Family was nominated for a Grammy Award. In 2012 "The Bristol Sessions 1927-1928: The Big Bang of Country Music" Box Set received two Grammy nominations in the Best Historical Album and Best Album Notes categories. The compilation was released by Bear Family Records in March 2011.
The 57th Grammy Awards show will be held on February 8, 2015, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The show will be broadcast live by CBS. 83 Grammy Awards will be presented, one more than in 2014. Perhaps next year there could be 84, one more for "best overdub production". Or perhaps not.
