AN AUSTERITY LP COVER OF A SOUTH AFRICAN JIM REEVES ALBUM

In August and September of 1964, TEAL RECORDS, who distributed RCA records in South Africa, sold so many copies of the JIM REEVES - SOUVENIR ALBUM that they ran out of the regular LP sleeves and the manufacturer of these could not supply another batch on short notice. Instead a plain paper sleeve with no artwork in colour was manufactured. These could be exchanged for the regular ones after a few weeks. Therefore an original album with this austerity LP cover is very rare to find. This is one of three Jim Reeves LP albums released at the speed of 16 2/3 rpm. Fifteen tracks could be pressed on one side of the album, but at the price of a lower sound quality.
