A dedication ceremony was held at the Jim Reeves Memorial.  Ms. Myrtle Mattis of Queens, New York had asked John Rex Reeves and his wife Neva to commission a marble angel to be placed at the Jim Reeves Memorial. A picture of the ceremony appeared in the PANOLA WATCHMAN of September 12. Various members of the Reeves family, Stuart Lipsey, Mary and Earl Powell, Jerry Hanszen, the owner of radio station KGAS, and Carthage  mayor Carson Joines attended the ceremony.
