50 YEAR - WELCOME TO MY WORLD CELEBRATION

AN ADVERTISMENT FOR A CHRISTMAS SINGLE

From the collection of Mr. David Bussey.

In 1963, RCA not only released  a Jim Reeves Christmas album, but a single too.  This advertisment appeared in the Music Reporter of 30th November 1963, and 7th December 1963.

Jim Reeves was not the first artist to record this sentimental tune. "An Old Christmas Card" was one of two Vaughn Horton favorites recorded by country singer Ray Smith in June 1949 and released on Columbia 20604.

TELDEC released the recording by Jim in many parts of Europe. It gained quite a popularity in Belgium and The Netherlands.  In 1964 Flemish singer Wil Tura released a record  with a translation in Dutch: "Een oude kerstmiskaart".

Jim Reeves recorded two more songs composed by Vaughn Horton: ' Teardrops in my heart' ( LPM-1576 JIM REEVES) and 'Till the end of the world ' ( LPM/LSP-2001 SONGS TO WARM THE HEART)
